ABOUT ASHRR

Sun-kissed swagger, psychedelic hues, dosed up on a reflective euphoria experienced through a modern lens, ASHRR arose from LA’s bubbling musical underbelly in 2018. A coming together of Ethan Allen, Josh Charles and Steven Davis, respected producers, composers and writers in their own right, with Grammy nominations and major label credits to their names.

ASHRR was a chance to let loose, distilling down the very best of soul- infused, funked-up space disco, cosmic new wave and indie electronica. Think Roxy Music jamming with ESG on a warm sunny Sunday in Central Park, and you’ve got the vibe.

Emerging from the pandemic, outlooks shifted and a hunger to write songs that made people dance materialized, channelling their roots in soul, funk, jazz, hip-hop, electronica and beyond. A groovy, melodic, ‘80s influenced cosmic disco feeling with an injection of a post-punk edge. Synthesised and hazy yet with an analogue authority. Ethan and Josh working their magic at the controls, with Steven’s luscious vocal tones providing an enchanting and illuminating aura.

With new horizons in sight, their most recent release ‘ASHRR Meet Scientist/ASHRR Meet Felix Dickinson’ landed on Ralph Lawson’s iconic 20/20 Vision - the first US act to sign with the UK landmark label – with a collaboration with dub legend Scientist, and a remix by disco don Felix Dickinson.  FIZZY , the new single, is already making waves on KCRW's MORNING BECOMES ECLECTIC.

Next up the LA movement will be working with one of the scene’s most arresting new acts, System Olympia.

ASHRR offers up an effortlessly groovy fusion of disco, R&B, and funk, carried by sinuous basslines, bursts of horns, and hypnotic percussion.
